Why Big White?
One of north America's largest ski resorts, big white is famous for its wide open spaces and feather-light powder. We love the European style, ski-only village and the amazing night skiing. We began going to Big White when we lived in Seattle and it holds so many special memories of time with our kids, it just feels like the perfect place to spend a week with our friends and family (and Bo!). Big White is not on one of the passes, so we will all be equally inconvenienced. Take solace in the fact that you will be buying in Canada Dollars so everything feels like it is always on sale.
Getting There
Big White is between Calgary and Vancouver and is just 50 minutes from the airport in Kelowna, British Columbia. You can fly directly to Kelowna with a stop in Vancouver. Vancouver is a great place to visit, so maybe plan to spend the night on your way back. You can also fly to Spokane and drive 4 hours north through the snow.
Book your Lodging
We will be staying at the new ski in/ski out Stonegate Resort in the village. This all-condo resort has many options ranging from one- to four-bedroom apartments. Book an intimate stay, bring your kids, or grab some friends - just rent something soon (reservations may be cancelled through January, so no worries about getting stuck). We are looking forward to post-après with everyone at the pool followed by a little night skiing... If staying in a condo near Ben is not your vibe, there are lots of other options - from Chateaus to hotels - find the place that works best for you!
Plans and Activities
We are still figuring out exactly what we will be doing depending on the number of people who make the trek north with us. For sure there will be skiing day and night, enjoying après at various locations around the ski hill, and of course, Ben's 60th Birthday Dinner on Friday 2/28! There may even be some Cat or Heli-skiing for the truly adventurous.
